SUMMARY:Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
DESCRIPTION:Part of our Healthy Living Series: \nMindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) \n \n\nMindfulness is a superb way to develop resilience and maintain a healthy mind. Our course is designed to help you learn new ways of handling difficult physical sensations\, feelings and moods.\nThe core skill that you will learn is 'mindfulness'; a way of paying attention\, on purpose and non-judgmentally\, to what goes on in the present moment in your body\, mind\, and the world around you.\n\nMindfulness can enable you to see things differently\, undoing mental blocks and physical tension. It can increase your sense of personal confidence\, of having more options and more strength to face the different challenges in your life.\n\n\n\n\n \n\nMost people completing MBSR programmes report that they gain lasting benefits\, such as:\n\n\tmore energy and enthusiasm\n\ta greater capacity for relaxation\n\tenhanced self-confidence\n\tan increased ability to handle stressful situations\n\nThe course is based on the MBSR course developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the USA\n\n \nThe course is held on Monday evening\, between 6:30pm to 9pm.\nYou attend once a week for 8 weeks\, and there is an additional 1 day retreat on a Saturday.\nCourse dates are:\n\n\tMonday 20th Feb 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 27th Feb 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 6th March 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 13th March 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 20th March 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 27th March 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 3rd April 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tMonday 10th April 2017\, 6:30pm - 9pm\n\tPlus a one day retreat on Saturday 1st April\, 10am - 4pm\n\nThe course is run by Rachel Millsted (CFM UMass Qualifed MBSR Teacher)\, our resident mindfulness and MBSR teacher. \n\nWe provide a safe\, confidential space for approximately 15 people working together as a group.\n\nTogether you will learn several key mindfulness practices and have the chance to discuss these and your experience of them in the group.\n\nHome practice is an important part of the course\, and each participant is required to undertake to do 30 to 60 minutes of this\, six days per week\, between each class.\n\n \n\nThe cost of the course is £295 including VAT.
