Our History - SafeHaven Trauma Centre

Our History

SafeHaven Trauma Centre was founded at the beginning of 2015 by Charlotte Copeland, a psychotherapist who has worked for many years in critical care and oncology within the NHS, as well as specialising in psychological trauma in private practice.

Charlotte’s vision was to provide a central location where outstanding clinicians, providing both established practices and the latest advances in trauma recovery, could be easily accessed by those in need.

The ethos of the Centre is to ensure people are supported in a safe, caring and compassionate environment; where treatment is personalised for their situation and needs.

The Centre was founded in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in the ground floor of an old Victorian building on Wilmslow high street. In 2018 a new building was obtained in Hazel Grove, Stockport, 5 minutes from Stepping Hill Hospital. The building was refurbished with state of the art colour-change mood-lighting and additional facilities for art and sand-tray therapy as well as other physical therapies such as acupuncture. In late 2018 we moved over to the new Centre in Hazel Grove where we are now based.
