What to expect
People attend our Centre for a variety of reason, some come as a preventative measure to build resilience, especially those exposed to high stress and trauma on a daily basis, but the majority come because they are in a degree of discomfort or distress. Whatever your reason, we are committed to ensuring you feel safe, cared for and have a confidential space to share information and receive support and treatment.
Our approach is focused on collaborative working. We always seek to respect and protect the rights and dignity of all our clients, whatever their beliefs, culture, race or creed. Our experienced professionals will work alongside you to facilitate recovery, personal development, growth and self-care in the way that best supports you and your individual circumstances.
To help you understand what your experience with us may involve we have outlined the typical journey people experience with us below.
Initial inquiry/ referral
Having decided you would like to know more about our services, the first step is to arrange an introductory phone consultation with a clinician. Once we receive your request, either by completing the online form or calling reception, we will arrange for a clinician to call you at a convenient time.
During the introductory call we will discuss with you your current situation, to determine if our services would be suitable. If your clinician and you are in agreement, then we will arrange for an initial consultation.
If we have received a referral for you, our administration team will contact you to introduce ourselves, explain the service and arrange for you to attend an initial consultation.
Note: if we feel our services would not be appropriate we will always endeavor to refer you to an appropriate clinic/service.
Attending the Centre
Arrival
On arrival you will find our entrance is at the front of the building adjacent our car park. In reception you will find comfortable seating and complimentary refreshments waiting. Please take a seat and your clinician will come out and meet you in reception at your appointment time.
Initial consultation
Depending on your reason for attending, an initial consultations will be arranged for either 90 minutes or 3 hours. This will be discussed with you during your introductory phone call.
Your clinician will take the time to understand what you require help with, take a medical history, determine condition/symptom severity and discuss and evaluate suitable therapies and treatment options. This will enable them to recommended a suitable course of action and enable a care-plan to be created for you.
Attending for your care-plan
After your care-plan has been agreed we will liaise with you to book in your appointments either for the entire care plan, or for those on mid-long term plans we will book them for the month ahead, as we realise people have often have preferred days/times for their appointments, which they like to retain.
Throughout your treatment you will find your therapist monitors for change and any difficulties, as well as progress. They may ask you to complete evaluation questionnaires during your treatment to monitor your symptoms and well-being.
Your therapist may encourage you to keep a journal of your symptoms, mood, behaviour etc. during the course of your treatment. You may also be given certain tasks to complete in-between sessions to help your recovery.
Final consultation
At your final consultation you and your therapist will evaluate progress and if the outcomes achieved meets your expectations and needs. If other therapy is appropriate, or aftercare is required, this will be discussed and arranged accordingly.
Aftercare
Aftercare is designed to help people maintain their progress achieved during treatment. It is also focused on building on improvements further, to the point where you feel able to self-manage your current circumstances as well as feel better prepared to cope if challenging circumstances repeat themselves.
Aftercare is design to build your confidence and increase your reliance on you.
Online Support
Initial consultation
Initial consultations generally last 1 hour.
Your clinician will take the time to understand what you require help with, take a history, determine condition/symptom severity and discuss and evaluate suitable online therapies or courses. This will enable them to recommended a suitable course of action and enable a care-plan to be created for you.
Attending for your online care-plan
Your online appointments will be agreed 1 month in advance. These will either be on the telephone or by video.
